David Aversa, MD, MPH, is a triple board-certified child, adult, and forensic psychiatrist at Connecticut Psychiatric & Wellness Center in Hamden and Woodbridge, Connecticut. Dr. Aversa takes an integrative approach to psychiatric care, using several modalities to improve his patients’ mental, emotional, and physical well-being.
After earning his Bachelor of Art in Biology at Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island, Dr. Aversa completed his Doctor of Medicine at the prestigious Yale School of Medicine in New Haven, Connecticut. Dr. Aversa continued his training in New Haven, completing his residency in general psychiatry at Yale School of Medicine. He then went on to complete his fellowship training in child and adolescent psychiatry at the Yale Child Study Center and forensic psychiatry at the Division of Law & Psychiatry at Yale.
He specializes in treating all psychiatric disorders that affect children and adolescents, as well as adults with depression. Dr. Aversa also provides school consultations, custody evaluations, forensic evaluations, and disability evaluations.
In addition to the care he provides at Connecticut Psychiatric & Wellness Center, Dr. Aversa serves as an associate clinical professor at the Yale Child Study Center, as well as the inpatient attending physician for the child psychiatric inpatient services at Yale New Haven Children’s Hospital. He supervises and coordinates forensics and school consultation services and is also medical director for in-home services and a supervisor in the outpatient clinic.
With his experience and knowledge, Dr. Aversa aims to provide comprehensive, integrated mental health services to children, adults, and families.
